The sight of these ungainly three tonne animals gliding gracefully through the crystal clear waters of Mzima is unforgettable.

SAFARI TO AMBOSELI
Wildlife safari to Amboseli lets the tourists enter the majestic realm of the Elephant. This beautiful park
consists of wide open plains crowned by the snow capped peak of
Kilimanjaro and the water swamps. Amboseli is easily accessible from Nairobi but you can start from Mombasa as well, and its relatively small size and open plains make game viewing very easy. The most obvious animals are the large elephant herds, Elephants are a continual presence throughout the park, and this provides plenty of opportunities to observe and learn from a wide variety of their social behaviour. Whether it is the deep affection between a cow and her calf or a spectacular battle for dominance between two full tusked bulls, elephant behaviour is always fascinating. Spending time among Amboseli's Elephants is the perfect way to learn more about the role that they play in the local ecosystem. There is a lot more to see in Amboseli other than Elephants. The forests and swamplands are well worth exploring, and the wetland areas and stands of acacia are rich birding country. The open plains attract plenty of grazing game. including zebra, wildebeest, Impala, giraffes and Cheetah are often seen here, either hunting on the plains or at rest in the undergrowth. The best time to see game in Amboseli is early morning and late afternoon. In the midday heat, Elephants and other animals hide to the cool of thick undergrowth and can become invisible. Morning and afternoon game drives also allow you to witness the unforgettable African dawn and sunsets. |

CHEETAH KILLS ITS PREY
The cheetah kills its prey by tripping it during the chase, then biting
it on the underside of the throat to suffocate it; the cheetah is not
strong enough to break the necks of most prey. The bite may also
puncture a vital artery
in the neck. Then the cheetah proceeds to devour its catch as quickly
as possible before the kill is taken by stronger predators.

MAN EATERS OF TSAVO
In
March 1898 the British started building a railway bridge over the Tsavo
River in Kenya. The project was led by Lt. Col. John Henry Patterson.
During the next nine months of construction, two maneless male Tsavo
lions stalked the campsite, dragging
Indian workers from their tents at night and devouring them. Crews tried
to scare off the lions and built campfires and bomas of thorn fences
around their camp for protection to keep the man-eaters out, to no
avail; the lions crawled through the thorn fences. After the new
attacks, hundreds of workers fled from Tsavo, halting construction on
the bridge. Patterson set traps and tried several times to ambush the
lions at night from a tree. After repeated unsuccessful endeavors, he
shot the first lion on December 9, 1898. Twenty days later, the second
lion was found and killed. The first lion killed measured nine feet,
eight inches (3 m) from nose to tip of tail. It took eight men to carry
the carcass back to camp. The construction crew returned and completed
the bridge in February 1899. The exact number of people killed by the
lions is unclear. Patterson gave several figures, overall claiming that
there were 135 victims

4 Days Tsavo West ,Amboseli and Tsavo East Adventure Safari.
Mzima spring in Tsavo West.
Mzima Springs are a series of four natural springs in Tsavo West National Park in Kenya. The source of the springs is a natural reservoir under the Chyulu Hills to the north. The Chyulu range is composed of Volcanic lava rocks
and ash, which is too porous to allow rivers to flow. Instead, rain
water percolates through the rock, and may spend 25 years underground
before emerging 50 kms away at Mzima. The natural filtration
process gives rise to Mzima's famously clear stream, which flows through
a series of pools and rapids. 2 kms downstream from the
springs, the stream is blocked by a solidified Lava flow and disappears below the surface again.
Mzima is one of Tsavo's most popular wildlife attractions owing to its resident populations of Hippos and Nile crocodiles. Mzima's isolation makes both species are dependent on its waters: other sources are too distant for them to reach by overland travel. The hippos also sustain an entire Food chain They browse the surrounding Savanna by night and return to Mzima's pools by day, where their dung fertilises the water. Fruiting trees such as Dates and Raffia Palms, Waterberrys and Figs grow beside the water, using their submerged roots to absorb nutrients. Their fruits are a source of food for Varvet Monkeys and a variety of birds. Below the water's surface, the Invertebrates which feed on the hippo dung are preyed on by fish and Cormorants.
